Prof. Demin Jia is a professor of polymer materials science and engineering in School of Materials Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology (SCUT), China. He graduated from Organic Chemical Engineering Department of South China Institute of Technology (now SCUT) and became a teacher of the Institute in 1965. Since then he have been undertaking teaching and scientific researches in polymer materials field. He held the position of lecturer (1978-1983), associate professor (1983-1989) and professor (Since 1989). His research interests include rubber and plastics science and engineering, polymer modification and composites, polymer nanocomposites, functional polymer materials and so on. He has published over 600 papers in refereed journals. He served as the chairman of Polymer Department (1989-1995) and the dean of School of Materials Science and Engineering, SCUT (1995-2003), and served as vice-chairman of Rubber Specialized Committee of Chinese Chemical Engineering Society (1993-2013). In 1999 he obtained the Outstanding Expert in Chinese Rubber Industry honours.In 2015 he obtained the lifetime committee member honor of the Rubber Institute of CIESC.
